Description: Integral Yoga is a combination of specific methods designed to develop every aspect of the individual: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. It integrates the various branches of Yoga to bring complete and harmonious development. Postures are done gently and slowly, giving special attention to the breath and inner awareness. Postures, breathing practices, relaxation and mindfulness work together to strengthen and purify the circulatory, respiratory, digestive and endocrine systems. Time is given to special concerns of each individual. Annapoorne was certified through the Integral Yoga Institute in 1979. In 1986 she was among several to receive the title Guru Tatra Ratnam (Gem of the Guru’s teachings) from Sri Swami Satchidananda. She has taught in Russia, Italy, and in Integral Yoga Centers, hospitals, corrective facilities, recreational centers, college classes, high schools, community schools and corporations in the United States.

Nicole FalsoProvider: Nicole Falso, Island Pilates Center

Service: Private or group instruction

Description: Core strength is the foundation of all Pilates exercise. Core muscles are the deep, internal muscles of the abdomen and back that function as stabilizers. When core muscles are strong and doing their jobs—as they’re trained to do in Pilates—they work in tandem with the more superficial muscles (i.e. the “six pack abs”) of the trunk to support the spine through movement. Practitioners find their flexibility and coordination improved, stress reduced, and injuries prevented. After practitioners achieve an understanding of core support, they can apply Pilates principles to daily movement, especially during strenuous and challenging physical situations. Nicole Falso and Leslie Larch are both experienced with all body types and all levels of fitness. She offers detailed information on safely moving through injuries and surgeries and is experienced at rehabilitation. Her classes are fun and challenging for all ages. Most frequently heard quote after class:  “I feel so good!”

Kristen NelsonProvider: Kristen Nelson

Service: Group instruction

Description: Kristen Nelson is a certified yoga instructor through the Yoga Alliance and trained at Whole Life Yoga in Seattle.  She has taught on Whidbey Island for seven years-currently at South Whidbey Center (Senior Services) in Bayview.  She has additional training in prenatal yoga, yoga for anxiety and depression and yoga for seniors. New class!
